Employment Visa Information
Also known as a ‘D’ visa, an employment visa allows you to:
- Travel to Ireland for 3 months or longer
- Work in Ireland
You must not:
Gain employment after you enter Ireland in any other form of employment other than your pre-approved area.
It is important to not purchase travel tickets before you receive a decision on your visa application. You can apply for an Employment (Permits etc.) visa after you have obtained your employment permit from the Department of Jobs, Enterprise & Innovation (DJEI).
You can apply for an employment visa up to 3 months before your date of travel to Ireland. If you are visiting another state prior to travelling to Ireland, you must have the relevant visa for that state in your passport before applying for an Irish visa.
